Biographical Sketches of Leading Citizens Lawrence County Pennsylvania 1897 WILLIAM S. PATTISON [p. 318] one of the leading and most progressive citizens of Union township, and a carpenter who is much in demand throughout the surrounding country, was born in a house which was situated within a few rods of his present elegant residence, Dec. 10, 1834. He is a son of David and Jane (Stewart) Pattison. His first wife, who was a Miss Margaret Stevens, died in 1892, aged fifty-eight years, leaving two children—David Clarkson, a carpenter of New Castle, who married Maggie Winters; and James R. A., a conductor on the street railway. He was a second time joined in the bonds of matrimony to Mary Hawkins, daughter of Martin L. Hawkins, and this union resulted in the birth of twin boys: Ralph A. Stewart, and Russell J. Hancock, both of whom are exactly like in features and in build. Mr. Pattison is a Republican in politics, the principles of which party he earnestly advocates and supports. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, and active and liberal in its support. He is a member of the G. A. R.

Pretty Luncheon at Pattison Home

To honor Mrs. JS Martin formerly of this city and Mrs Dodds of Beaver Falls, Mrs. DC Pattison of the Youngstown Road gave a nicely appointed luncheon Wednesday at noon. The affair was a complete surprise to the honor guests but proved all the more enjoyable. The afternoon was spent in visiting and other pleasantries.

NCN, 30 Aug 1916 Father’s Birthday Honored

A happy crowd of 35 people gathered at the home of M/M AC Miller of Edinburg on the evening of Aug 25 when a birthday party was given in honor of Mrs. Miller’s father, Ferd Kincaid of Zolfa, FL.

At 7 PM a chicken dinner was served, the table being graced by a large birthday cake with lighted candles making the figures 75. Sweet peas and goldenglow were used in the decorations and among those present were Benjamin Lower of Wash DC who entertained the party with some patriotic speeches, Mrs Rebecca Jones and Mrs Edward Jones of Pittsburgh, Miss Peck and Mrs Barber of Youngstown, Mrs William Pattison of New Castle. Some of these friends of Mr. Kincaid hadn’t met in 40 years.

R Pattison Weds Girl from Sharon

At 9 PM Saturday evening Miss Maudie Stuart daughter of M/M Stuart of 23 Willow St, Sharon, PA became the bride of Russell J. Pattison son of M/M William S. Pattison of West State Street, this city. The wedding took place at the home of the bride’s parents. Attendants of the bride and groom were Mrs. Effie Stuart, a cousin of the bride, and Ralph A. Pattison, a brother of the groom. Miss Goldie Greer played the wedding march and the ring ceremony was performed by Rev R. Harlan McCartney. Among the 50 guests in attendance were the following from this city: Mrs. William S. Pattison of West State Street, Ralph A. Pattison, Robert Stuart and Misses Effie Stuart and Hazel M. Smith.

Surprise Party

Mrs. Mary Pattison, 718 Court St, was pleasantly surprised Friday evening when 40 of her relatives came to her home in a group to help celebrate her birthday. He is survived by his wife and 2 sisters, Mrs. Pattison of this city and Mrs. Rebecca Jones of Indianapolis, IN. Funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at Pottsville.

Mrs. Mary J. Pattison of Court St is visiting with her sister Mrs. Rebecca Jones of Crafton, Pittsburgh for a period of two weeks. The later was guest of honor at a celebration in observance of their 90th birthday anniversary which fell on Sunday. Mrs. jones is known by friends here and will be interested to learn of the happy occasion.

Honor Birthday of Mrs. Pattison

In celebrating the 84th birthday of Mrs. Mary Pattison members of the Reformed Presbyterian church honored her with a surprise birthday party on Wednesday evening after prayer meeting, at the home of M/M RH Pattison, Court St, where she has resided with her niece and nephew for 16 years. This grand old lady was delighted when she was presented with an orchid, basket of fruit, and birthday cake by Mrs. Clyde Tindall who represented the group.

Mrs. MD Allen extended greetings from the Helping Hand Bible Class of which Mrs. Pattison is a charter member. Rev EA Crooks also extended greetings from the congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church where she has been a member for the past 50 years. Mrs. JD PAttison led in group singing. A dainty luncheon was served by Mrs. Alfred Gardner and Mrs. Clyde Tindall. Mrs. Pattison was born on 22 Nov 24, 1862, daughter of M/M James Hawkins of Sharpsburg (this should be Dr. Martin Luther Hawkins and Esther Smith Williams Hawkins), and came to New Castle when she married the late William Pattison of Youngstown Road.

Mrs. Mary J. Pattison, aged 84Y, of 718 Court St, died at the home of her son Russell Pattison, 512 John St, Niles, OH, this morning, following an illness. Mrs. Pattison was born in Sharpsburg, PA, Nov 24, 1862, daughter of Martin and Esther Hawkins Luther. She resided in this city for 53Y and had been married for 31Y at the time of her husband, William Pattison’s death 22Y ago. Mrs. Pattison was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church and was the last of her family. She leaves her children: Ralph A of Clairton, PA; Russell of Niles, OH; Clark of this city and Renwick Pattison of Lakeland, FL and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 PM in Campbell’s North Hill Funeral Home, Moody St at Delaware. The family will meet friends at the funeral home Thursday and Friday evenings 7-9 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary J. Pattison widow of William Pattison of 718 Court St this city were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 PM from the Campbell Funeral Home. Services were in charge of Rev Richard Liston, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield, MI, nephew of the deceased. Pallbearers were Wendell Pattison, William Pattison, Clyde Pattison, Glenn Lemmon, Frank Hawkins, and Wright Hoffmaster. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.
