ESTHER COUSINS Lillie Esther Hawkins. the second child and second daughter of Fred A. Hawkins and Rosie (Priestly) Hawkins. was born September 5, 1897. at Lane, Kansas. She passed away at Citizens Medical Center, after a life lived well and fully, at the age of 90 years 9 months and 10 days. She moved with her family to a farm southwest of Rexford, Kansas in 1905 and finished the eight grades of country school. She was united in marriage to Joseph O. Cousins on August 6, 1919. To this union, two children were born. a daughter, Maxine and a son. Marvin. They started their marriage life on a farm southwest of Rexford. Kansas and moved to their present home west of Menlo, March of 1923. She was a member of the Menlo Methodist Church, and of the American Legion Auxiliary. of Rexford. Esther was a devoted wife and mother. In her kind way, she enriched the lives of others with her open friendliness and warm compassion. She was always interested in her home and family as well as in her work. friends and community affairs. She made her family and friends welcome in her home and enjoyed having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren near by. She is survived by her husband Joe, of the home, daughter Maxine and husband Edwin of Ludell. Kansas, son Marvin Cousins and wife Mary of Colby. Four grandchildren, Linda Pechanec. Wichita, Kansas. Marvena Chance, Colby, Jim Cousins. Menlo and Larry J. Dible. Colby. and ten great-grandchildren. One sister. Edith Bastin. Oberlin, Kansas. Her parents, and two brothers preceded her in death and one grandson. She will be sadly missed by family, relatives and countless friends. We will cherish the memories of her life and work. The priviledge and grace of sharing and being touched by her life.
