Obituary

Rosie Ann Priestley was born January 4, 1873 near Paola and departed this life Thursday, July 9th at Osawatomie at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to Fred Hawkins on March 6, 1895, and they lived at Lane, in Miami County for ten years before moving to their farm southwest of Rexford. The trials and privations of pioneer life were more than she could endure, leaving her in poor health.

At an early age she was united with the Baptist church. At Rexford she was a charter memeber and a leader of the organization of the present Rebekah lodge.

Her husband and two sons preceded her to the great beyond.

She leaves to mourn her departure, two daughters - Mrs. Edith Bastin and Mrs. Esther Cousins, both of Menlo; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Viola Hawkins of Colby, nine grandchildren; three brothers, Sam of Mutual, OK, George of Paola, and Dr. Chas., of Wichita, besides other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the community church in Rexford, conducted by Rev. A.D. Oyer of Gem.
