Obituary

Fred Hawkins was born near Hillsdale, Kansas, March 4th, 1871 and passed away at Rexford, Kansas, September 30th, 1926, being 56 years, six months and twenty-six days old. He was united in marriage with Rosie Priestley, of Hillsdale, Kansas, March 6th, 1892. To this union was born four children; Mrs. Edith Bastin and Mrs. Esther Cousins of Menlo, Funston Hawkins of of Fort. Collins, Colorado, and Charles Hawkins of Trenton, Nebraska. His wife still survives him. He has one brther, Charles Hawkins, of Trenton, Nebraska, and two sisters, living at Hillsdale and Paola, Kansas.

Mr. Hawkins moved to western Kansas many years ago and has made his home here since that time. During his early life he lived on a farm southwest of Rexford and still owns his own home. Here his children grew to men and womenhood. His wife has been confined to a hospital for some years. In his early life he united with the Baptist church at Hillsdale, Kansas, and has been a member since that time. He joined the Masonic and I.O.O.F lodges many years ago and was a very faithful member. Mr. Hawkins was a man who was not afraid of his own convictions, and contributed in no little manner to the building up of the town of Rexford, where he moved some years ago.
