Obituary of Emma Missouri Palmer Poore as written in "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 13 Sep 1957. Mrs. Martin Poore died at the age of 82 about 11:00 AM yesterday (Thursday), 12 Sep 1957, at Mitchell County Hospital after a long illness due to the infirmities of age. Funeral plans are incomplete, pending the arrival of some of the members of the family, but one of them said the services would probably be some time Saturday, 14 Sep 1957, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she held membership. Mrs. Poore was the former Miss Emma Missouri Palmer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Palmer, of Mitchell County. She had spent her entire life here. She was the widow of Mart Poore who died in November of 1950. One son, James Medford Poore, died in March 1955 and since that time she had made her home at the old family home place with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. James Medford (Ouida) Poore, and grandson J. M. Poore Jr. (Jimmy). Survivors include the daughter-in-law and grandson who lovingly cared for her during her last illness; one daughter, Mrs. Jewell Carrera of Mariposa, California; two sons, Neufville Poore of Atlanta and J. Lorraine Poore of Leesburg, Fla; one sister, Mrs. Ila Frazier of Pelham; three brothers, Hubert I. Palmer of Sale City, Sam and Tenneth Palmer of Camilla. She leaves also five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
