Obituary of Samuel L. Palmer as written in "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 1 Dec 1976. Eighty-five year old Sam Palmer, native of Mitchell county, died on Thanksgiving Day, 25 Nov 1976, at his home near Camilla in the Mt. Zion section. Funeral services were held Sunday, 28 Nov 1976, at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev O. M. Cates officiating with the church pastor, Rev A. Davis. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Griner, Ivey Griner, Ralph Eubanks, Daniel Palmer, Milwood Faircloth, Roy Palmer Jr. and Jack Palmer. Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla was in charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Palmer was born 13 Dec 1981, in Mitchell County, son of the late Charles Palmer and Mary Ann Bussle Palmer. He was a retired farmer and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Farrell of Arlington, Tx., and Mrs. Gwendolyn Simas of Shingle Springs, Ca.; three sons, Loyd Palmer of Bainbridge, Elmo Palmer of Pavo, Ga. and Waldo Palmer of Tallahassee, Fla. Nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
