Miss Elwilda May Fowles, 339 W. Pike St. died Nov. 14, 1963 a 6 a.m. following several years illness.
Miss Fowles was born in Alum Rock, Pa. Dec. 28, 1874 and was a daughter of the late Reuben M. and Orpha A. Whitehill Fowles. She taught in Clarion County Schools and later was manager of H. T. Welty Store here. She was also payroll clerk at Fort Pitt Bridge Works. The deceased was a member of the First Methodist Church for 58 years. She was a member of the Baraca Class and served as financial secretary of the First Methodist Church for 28 years. Miss Fowles lived in this community since 1902.
Survivors include three sisters: Miss Gertrude Fowles, Canonsburg; Miss Margretta Fowles, Canonsburg; Mrs. Winifred Snyder, Greensburg; one niece, Mrs. Eleanor Rector, Grosse Pointe, Mich.; and one nephew, Attorney Daniel J. Snyder, Greensburg.
Friends will be received at the W. Leonard Griffith Funeral Home after 7 o'clock this evening and from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. until the services which will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 in charge of the Rev. Thomas R. Thomas, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Spring Cemetery.
