ELMER SUTTON DIES IN OKLAHOMA. Former Local Newspaperman Ill Several Weeks.
Elmer E. Sutton, 58, former Muncie newspaperman, died at his home in Bartlesville, Okla. Saturday morning, according to word received here today.
Mr. Sutton had been in poor health for the last several weeks, Since leaving Muncie several years ago, he has been engaged in the newspaper business in Oklahoma, but for the last few years had operated an office supplies and typewriter exchange business. He was the editor of the Muncie Morning News for several years. Mr. Sutton was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel R. Sutton and was born in Muncie, attending the local schools. He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Bartlesville and was prominent in affairs of that city.
Surviving are the widow, one son, Erville Sutton, of Oklahoma City, an adopted daughter, Martha; two brothers, Wilbur E. Sutton, editor of The Press, and George Sutton, both of Muncie, and two sisters, Miss Mabel Sutton, of Muncie and Mrs. Martha E. Teverbaugh, of Indianapolis.
The funeral services and burial will be held in Bartlesville. Miss Mabel Sutton Is leaving Sunday morning to attend the services.

BARTLESVILLE-PIONEER SUCCUMBS AFTER ILLNESS BARTLESVILLE. Jan. 4 – (AP) Elmer Sutton, city pioneer and former newspaper man, died here today following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Sutton was prominent in local church and lodge affairs. He came to Bartlesville 25 years ago from Muncie Ind. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Sutton, a son Earl of Oklahoma City, and a daughter Martha of Bartlesville. Two brothers George and Wilbur of Muncie and a sister, Mrs. Martha Teverbough of Indianapolis also survive.

FUNERAL SERVICE OF E. E. SUTTON TUESDAY. The funeral service for Elmer E. Sutton, the former Muncie newspaper man who died suddenly in his home in Bartlesville, Okla. Saturday, after several month of illness, will be held there Tuesday afternoon, and burial will take place in the Bartlesville Cemetery. Miss Mabel Sutton, a sister, is in Bartlesville to attend the service. George H. Sutton and Wilbur E. Sutton, both of Muncie, are brothers, and Mrs. Emily Teverbaugh, of Indianapolis, formerly of Muncie, is a sister.
Elmer Sutton spent many years of his life in the editorial department of the Muncie Morning News which afterward was absorbed by the Muncie Star. He also was employed for a while on the Muncie Times which finally was merged with the Muncie Herald to form The Muncie Press, and at the time of his leaving for Bartlesville to make his home some twenty years ago. he was with The Muncie Press. He was married here to Miss Gertrude Harper, the daughter of the late Lewis H. Harper. She survives him as do a daughter, Martha, at home, and a son, Erville, who is owner of the Sutton Advertising Agency in Oklahoma City, Okla. A daughter, Irene, died four years ago, and a son, Arthur, was killed at. the age of 14 when run down by an automobile while he was on a bicycle.
