Elisha Hawkins marries Elizabeth Guthrie circa 1825-26 (their son John b. 1826).
17 July 1837 Elisha Hawkins applied for Letters of Administration of the James Guthrie estate; granted 24 July.
17 Aug 1837 Guthrie estate - bonded were Elisha Hawkins, Thomas Carlisle and Ledford Rogers.
13 Oct 1837 Appraisal filed by appraisers T. A. Carlisle (Thomas A.), W. W. Glenn, Wm Rogers and James Rogers.
Purchasers of James Guthrie estate: Thomas A. Carlisle, Harriet Brooks/Crooks, James Robers, James Davis,

Thomas Brooks/Crooks, Geo. Clark, Richard Liverett, John Hewey, James Prewitt, W. W. Glenn, Geo. Evans, Nathan Glenn, James Bever, Nathan Hawkins, Lewis Burrel, Geo. Doglass, Nancy Guthrie, McDaniel Co Reuben Sims, Jesse Rogers, Sally Kelly, John Harris, and Reuben Sims Jr.

Some have surmised that Elisha was living on land of his father-in-law when James Guthrie died in 1837. Assuming that this property is that described in the Union Co. SC Deed Abstracts, Vol 1, Deed Books A-F 1785-1800, by Brent Holcomb at Mobile library (Holcomb Deed Abstracts) - “27 Feb 1788 B 45-47 Philip & Eliz. ANDERSON of Union Co. SC to James GUTHREY of same, for 200 sterling, tract on south side Tyger River adj. Philip ANDERSON's land, Daniel LIPHAMs land, 250 ac....” (sourced by Beverley Ferrell). The Land Grant Maps show Phillip Anderson with 240 acres, 1776, centered about 1.25 miles to the west of Nathan Hawkins. Lipham properties are nearby.
In the Wm. C. Glenn will, noted above, he names Elijah ANDERSON as an abutting property, along with Henry Hardy & Nathan Hawkins. The Guthrie children and the Nathan Hawkins children were in close proximity to each other.
