Doris’s parents, Miles and Maggie were separated shortly before Doris was born.


1920 Census Doris Foskey was enumerated in her mother Maggie L. Foskey’s household in Militia District 1503, Bleckley County, Georgia with her brothers Burrell, Emmett, Howard and William, and sister Hazel. Doris was 2 years and 10 months old, and single. She and both parents were born in Georgia.


1930 Census Doris Foskey was enumerated in her brother-in-law William Smith’s household in Frazier District 1503, Bleckly County, Georgia with her sister Fannie, nieces Florence, Virginia, Monelle, and Frances, and unnamed brother Foskey. Doris was 13 years old, and single. She and both parents were born in Georgia.


Doris graduated from Cochran High School in 1935, which was the middle of the depression. Not all the MB Foskey children graduated from high school.


1n December, 1940 Doris rode the bus three days and nights from Cochran, Georgia to Los Angeles. She worked in the L&H shirt actory in Cochran before leaving there. This is something she seems proud of. She kept an envelope with the return address on it and put the envelope in her photo album.


Doris frequently visited her brothers in Southern California and made trips to Georgia to visit her relatives there. She was a pleasant lady with a sense of humor and will be missed by all.
