DONALD BACON Donald Harry Bacon, 71, of Monona, Iowa died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, following a long illness. Donald was born July 20, 1934, in Clayton County to Lloyd and Harriett (Schroeder) Bacon. He attended Monona schools. He was united in marriage to Jean Christofferson on October 1, 1955, at the Presbyterian Church in Postville. They made their home in Monona where Don worked at a DX Station, Monona Telephone Co. and operated Bacon Siding for twelve years. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and delivering Amish candy and baked goods. Surviving are his wife, Jean Bacon, Monona; two sons, Robert Bacon, Monona and Steve (Sandi) Bacon, Marion; grandchildren, Cory (Christina) Bacon, Monona, Sally and Bailey Bacon, Marion; great-grandchildren, Collin and Clare Bacon, Monona; brothers, Rick Bacon, Monona, and Ralph (Linda) Bacon, Postville; a sister, Shirley (Jim) Drake, Hot Springs, Ark.; and sisters-in-law, Beverly Bacon, Postville and Charlene Bacon, Monona. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Allan Bacon and sister-in-law, Minerva Bacon. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Monona, Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating with inurnment will be at a later date in Monona City Cemetery.
