Facts and Events
Dirck was a weaver by trade. A year after his marriage he moved to Freehold, NJ where he purchased property in 1719. He and his wife were received as members, on May 13, 1711, in the Freehold-Middletown Dutch Church, which was also known as the Dutch Church of Middleboro. Dirck became a Deacon and later an elder. In his will, dated July 16, 1744 and probated Aug. 16 1744, "DERRICK BARCKALOW, yeoman, of Freehold, mentioned his wife "JANE" and seven children. Dirck and Jannetje settled on the Raritan River in 1745. His will dated July 16, 1744. No information on probate of the will.
