BURLINGTON — Mrs.. Debbie Thompson Lea, 86, of 37 Vinson Road, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at her home after two years of failing health, one week critical.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. George R. Lea, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Jasper T. Thompson and Mrs.. Lydia Record Thompson, both deceased. She was a member of the Anderson Home Extension Club for more than 50 years. She was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church and attended Bethel United Church of Christ and Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church. She was a member of the Elizabeth Fitch Circle of Bethel United Church of Christ.

Survivors other than her husband of the home include three nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs.. Joy Thompson Sharpe.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Paul Stennett, pastor, and Elder Wallis Smith of Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening and other times at the home.
