"Died at his residence on the Long Glade in this county on 1st instant, Capt. David Bell, at the advanced age of 81 years [13 FEB 1845] Departed this life on Saturday morning... Soon after the Revolution, when the spirit of rebellion in the Western counties of Pennsylvania, had kindled the flames of civil war (The Whiskey rebellion)... he was one of that patriotic band from Augusta, who at the call of Washington... quelled at once the spirit of insurrection... member of the Presbyterian Church... Bereaved of an affectionate wife when their three little children greatly needed a mother... an only daughter and two sons... After Funeral Services on Sabbath morning... friends and neighbors, followed the hearse to... Mossy Creek Church, about four miles distant."
