In the 1860 Census David lists his birthplace as PA. His wife Hannah Gorby is listed in the Census and in some of the land deeds and his marriage is included in Opal Masters research and in the Gorby book, but no record can be found of their marriage.Opal states in her research that their is a deed showing that the Anguish Farm was bought in 1836 by David for $125.00 from his father William. I have copies of deeds where David has acquired land from his father but it is difficult for me to tell what land is the Anguish Farm. I also have a copy of the deed where he acquired land from his father's widow and her two children.(step-mother and half-brother and sister).

David was an active minister in the Disciples of Christ church and he is mentioned in the "Millennial Harbinger" a publication of the early church that I received a copy of from the Disciples of Christ Historical Society in Nashville, TN 37212-2196 . There is a paragraph from the "History of the Pan Handle" Newton, Nickols and Spramble mentioning the New Bethel Disciples Church. "In 1848 this society erected their first house of worship, built of logs. David Anguish supplied them, as pastor at that time, remaining with them until October 5, 1872, when death called him from his field of labor. The membership at present numbers about seventy."

In looking at the marriage records of the area David Anguish is listed as the minister for many of them. I have seen his tombstone when I visited in October of 94 at the New Bethel Cemetery. His monument was in good shape but many of the others were in weeds and knocked over.

"The Churches of Christ in W.VA. in Convention feel it is a duty, as well as a privilege, to give a public expression of their feelings of the death of their highly esteemed and venerable servant, David Anguish, who departed this life on the 5th day of October, 1872. He was 64 years of age, and been a faithful Minister of the Gospel of Christ for 35 years.

Be it resolved, that in the death of Brother Anguish, the missionary enterprise has lost a true and valued laborer, the church and esteemed servant, society a noble, honest citizen, and his family an affectionate and kind father. He was not only pious and devoted to God in all his labors, but a successful preacher of the word in turning souls to Christ, and his works will follow him." "THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN W. VA.'
