This is in response to the message regarding Daniel Smalley with a daughter Ruth who married a Ridley. I am tracing the line of Daniel's son, Daniel II b. October 28, 1740. I have Daniel I married to Ruth Barnaby? and children listed as Daniel II, Elizabeth, Ruth, Francis, Sarah, Bathseba and Alice. Is this the family of the Ruth who married a Ridley? Daniel II had a daughter named Ruth and sons Sylvanus, Daniel III and Nehemiah. Daniel II'was in Vermont in 1790 but before 1800 went to Madison County NY with his sons and daughter Ruth who married Ebenezer Knowlton (married in New Hampshire). My real interest is hooking up Samuel Smalley, born 1792, possibly in Vermont, with SOMEBODY!! Am quite sure he is not the son of Nehemiah or Daniel III but may be the son of Sylvanus. Spent a lot of time on this with nothing! Samuel was in Madison in the 1830 census but clues also lead to Saratoga or Washington County Smalley's. Anybody researching this group? New York--the black hole of genealogy--hasn't revealed anything after trips to NY Archives and Madison County. Help, help. Nancy Evers

He married (1) RUTH BARNABY Abt. 1720 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA, daughter of STEPHEN BARNABY and RUTH MORTON. She was born July 12, 1699 in Plymouth, Plymouth MA, and died Abt. 1776 in Lebanon, New London CT. He married (2) HANNAH BICKFORD May 22, 1777 in Goshen, Litchfield CT, daughter of JEREMIAH BICKFORD and HANNAH YOUNG. She was born May 1708 in Eastham, Barnstable MA, and died October 1793 in Greenfield MA.
