Dana was graduated from the Unionville High School in 1932, and has attended the University of MN, the University of KS, and Culver-Stockton College. he was retired in 1976, after 23 years in the service department of Quincy Compressor Company. Mr. Flanagan is a member of many Masonic organizations: Moolah Shrine Temple, Knights Templar, Royal Arch Masons and Independence Lodge #76, Independence, MO, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Dana is quite active in the Photographic Society of Quincy. He has served his community through involvement with the Canton, MO Arts Council, Kiwanis Clubs, and numerous other clubs,committees and organizations. Dana and Dorothy Flanagan have two sons. Mike Flanagan of Quincy, IL and Pat Flanagan of Canton, MO. They have four grandchildren. (information current in 1991)

Obituary from the Quincy, IL Herald-Whig, Oct. 23, 2001 -- Dana Flanagan, 87, of The Good Samaritan Home died at 12:36 p.m. Monday (October 22, 2001) in Blessing Hospital.

Dana was born June 13, 1914 in Unionville, Mo., the only child of Dana C. and Eliza Hall Flanagan. Dana Flanagan was united in marriage to Dorothy Hansbrough on April 5, 1941, in the Parsonage of the First Baptist Church of Independence, Mo., by the Rev. Harold Hunt. She survives.

Dana graduated from the Unionville High School in 1932, and had attended the University of Minnesota, the University of Kansas, and Culver-Stockton College.

Mr. Flanagan retired in 1976, after being employed for 23 years in the service department of Quincy Compressor Co.

Mr. Flanagan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton, Mo. He was also a member of many Masonic organizations including Moolah Shrine Temple, Knights Templar, Royal Arch Masons and the Independence Lodge 76, Independence, Mo., and the Order of the Eastern Star.

He was quite active in the Photographic Society of Quincy. He served his community through involvement with the Canton Area Arts Council, Kiwanis Clubs in Lewistown and Canton, and numerous other clubs, committees and organizations.

Mr. Flanagan is also survived by two sons, Mike Flanagan of Quincy and Pat Flanagan of Canton; four grandchildren, Laura Flanagan of Quincy, Kelly Hentzen of Canton, Sean Flanagan of St. Louis, and Chris Flanagan of Canton; and two great-granddaughters, Dana Marie and Kennedy Lane Flanagan of Canton.

Mr. Flanagan was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton by the Rev. William Foose and the Rev. Tom Rains. Internment will be in the Lewistown Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
