Neil O'Hargan was born around 1801/05 in Ireland. His first 3 children were born in County Antrim, Ireland, and then in 1838 the family moved to Steuben County in southwestern New York. He eventually had 10 children in all. He was a farmer in the town of Greenwood, where he owned 250 acres (1855 census) valued at $10,000 (1870 census). They lived in a frame house. He lived to be about 80.
