MRS. CLARA A. BROWN Mrs. Clara Brown passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Gertrude Armstrong at Alexandria, on September 28, 1939, at the age of 73 years, and 11 days. She was born in Anderson, Indiana on Sept. 17, 1866 and attended school and grew to womanhood there. She was united in marriage to Robert Preston Brown. To this union, one daughter, Helen, was born. She preceded her in death at the age of five years. Surviving are three brothers and two sisters; Charles of Anderson, Indiana; Wilbur of Miami, Florida; Floyd of Ortonville; Mrs. Mollie Welchel of Miami, Florida and Mrs. Gertrude Armstrong of Alexandria. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 30th at three o'clock from the Anderson Funeral Home. Rev. Meridan officiating. The remains were shipped to Anderson, Indiana for burial.

Family notes per Flo Baxter: Clara and Press Brown lived in Stone Head, Brown County, Indiana and grandma lived with them when she was 15, about 1928 till about 1932.
Oldest girl, married Press Brown - both from Anderson, Madison, IN. Lived there then moved to around Page, Cass, ND and farmed quite a few years. Had 1 girl Helen who died at 5 yrs with typhoid fever. Later they adopted George Sims to be George Brown. Then retired to a small farm in the hills, with 2 horses, a cow and few pigs - farmed a little for feed in Nashville or Stonehead, Brown County, IN. Then Press died there.
Clara came back to Alexandria, Douglas, MN to her sister Gerty Armstrong and died there from a stroke but did have also have cancer. Sent back to IN.
