Facts and Events
Clara Margaret Savage was born on 29th January 1870 at Saint Helier on Jersey, daughter of Mary Ann Savage, formerly Snelling, and her husband Walter William Savage, a last maker. The family had only recently moved to Jersey from Southampton, and they did not stay long on Jersey after Clara's birth - by the time of the 1871 census they had moved to Norwich, where they lived on Ber Street. Clara was baptised along with two of her siblings in Norwich in 1873.
Later that year the family left Norwich and moved to Colchester in Essex, where Clara's eldest sister died aged 9.
By 1875 the family had moved to the London area. The 1881 census finds Clara living with her parents and siblings at 10 Carnaby Street in the West End of London. Clara's father died in 1883. The family then moved to Islington in the northern suburbs of London.
Clara died in 1889 in Islington, when she was only nineteen years old. Her mother survived her.
