OBITUARY (Palladium-Times Saturday October 28, 2000, page 5A) Clara Monette Compton Employed with Columbia Mills OSWEGO - Clara Monette Compton, 92, a former resident of 79 East Seneca St., died Oct. 27, 2000, at the Loretto Heights Nursing Home. Born in Oswego, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary(Thompson) Monette. She attended Oswego schools and was a graduate of Chaffee's Business School. She had been employed with Columbia Mills in Minetto and later worked for Lampson Corporation and also the Burns Brothers Company, both in Syracuse. She had resided in Syracuse for 46 years before returning to Oswego in 1992. Mrs. Compton enjoyed knitting and crocheting and all kinds of handicrafts. She is survived by two sisters, Mary and Flora Monette, both of Oswego; a brother, Albert Monette of Oswego; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Compton, who died in 1980. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Louis Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Dowdle Funeral Home. References
