His brother Leo finished his paper route for him. Bert was expelled from the altar boys(St.Louis Church) by Fr. Wilmoos. He told the altar boys that they were not "catholic enough". Berts mother went to church and told the Father off! The next time Albert came to mass Fr. told him he could no longer be an altar boy. MONETTE World War II ARMY Veteran Oswego - Albert D. Monette, 92, a resident of 4 Prospect St., Oswego, died July 20, 2003 at St. Luke Health Services. Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Albert and Mary(Thompson) Monette. He was a graduate of St. John's School and Oswego High School. He had worked for the Oswego City School District until his retirement. Mr. Monette was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He was a member and past commander of American Legion #268 and a past chef de train and past district adjutant for the organization. He was also past president of the Men's Gardening Club of Oswego and a former member of the Army reserves. Surviving are a sister, Flora Monette of Oswego, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Georgeina; two sisters, Mary Monette and Clara Compton; two brothers, Leo and Foster Monette. Funeral services are 9 a.m.Wednesday from St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Dowdle Funeral Home, 154 East Fourth St., Oswego.
