CHESTER BAKER, 70, SUCCUMBS Chester A. Baker, 70, operator of the Baker Gun Shop, OH ave. and a former member of the Fremont police force, died at 2:12 a.m. Wednesday at his home, 630 OH Ave. He had been ill at his home for some time. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Born July 20, 1885 he was a son of Henry and Elizabeth Hawk Baker. His marriage to Margaret L. Forgerson took lace in Monroe Michigan January 27, 1909. Mrs. Baker survives together with two sons, Wilson and Richard, Fremont; two daughters, Mrs. Lois C. Oman and Mrs. Helen E. Miller Fremont; brothers George Toledo; Arthur, Marietta Wash; Ralph of Green Creek and Burton address unknown. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by tow sisters Mrs. Bert Ferguson and Mrs. August Young. He has operated the Baker Gun shop for 15 years. A member of the police force here for 10 years, he was badly hurt in an accident while on duty in 1924 suffering a crushed pelvis. He returned to the force for a while after recovery from his injuries. City hall said he had also served in the fire department. |
