"14. Charles (3) Williams, third child of Thomas and Anne Williams, (6) was born at Boston, Mass., September 20, 1662, and died at Colchester, Mass. [error for Conn.], April 17, 1740. He was only seven years old when his father was killed, so he was bound out to his uncle Abraham, who mentioned in his Will, 'concerning a relative we brought up from a child.' Charles and his father-in-law, William Weeks, helped in the second settlement of Worcester, Mass. By 1691, he had removed to Hadley, Mass., where his first [eldest child was born before the removal to Hadley] five [four] children were born. He later removed to Colchester, Conn., where he lived the remainder of his life. He was granted land in Colchester on January 21, 1792 [error for 1702]. He was a carpenter by trade. On October 12, 1713 he conveyed land to his son, William; on February 5, 1719, to his son, Weeks, who was living at East Haddam, Conn.; and to his son, William of Colchester; on August 11, 1721 to his son, John of Haddam; on May 20, 1727, to his son, Nathan, his homestead, to take effect after his death. He is buried in the old burial ground near Bacon Academy.
