Charity Walby was baptised on 2nd October 1749 at Aston in Hertfordshire, daughter of Dorcas Walby, formerly Chapman, and her husband George Walby, a butcher.

On 14th October 1773, Charity married a man who also happened to be called George Walby, at Tewin, a few miles south of Aston. Given that they shared a surname, they may have been distant cousins, although no obvious connection has been found.

Charity and George went on to have five children baptised at Tewin between 1774 and 1782. Back in Tewin, Charity's father died in 1776. He left her five pounds in his will.

Charity died aged 33, being buried at Tewin on 30th May 1783. Her youngest daughter, who was a baby at the time, died a few weeks later. Charity's mother survived her.

George survived Charity by 44 years.
