George Walby or Warby was baptised in 1748 at Tewin in Hertfordshire, son of John and Martha Walby.

On 14th October 1773 he married Charity Walby, who was from the nearby village of Aston. Given that they shared a name, they may have been distant cousins, although no obvious connection has been found.

George and Charity went on to have five children baptised at Tewin between 1774 and 1782.

Charity died in 1783, aged 33. Their youngest daughter, who was a baby at the time, died a few weeks later.

George survived Charity by 44 years. He was buried at Tewin on 13th June 1827, aged about 79.

Presumably this entry comes from the Bishop's Transcripts, as there are no baptisms listed in the parish register for 1748-1750 and several other years in the 1750s, with a note: "What Baptizms are wanted, and cannot be found in this Book, may be found in the Bishop's office in Hitchin." Needs to be confirmed at Hertfordshire Archives.
