According to the Marriage Bond issued on 12 October 1875, Caroline Gaddie lived in Taylor County, Kentucky when she wed John B. Osborn in 1875. It states that they were to b e married at the home of Mrs. J.B. Gaddie (Mrs. Johnson B. Gaddie, aka Anna Shofner Gaddie), who was Caroline's mother. The bond also states that she was 28 years old and that it was her first marriage, even though she was actually 31 years old. It also states that both her mother and father were from Greene County, Kentucky, but did not give their names. The marriage certificate, which is attached to the bond, states that they were married at Anna (Shofner) Gaddie's, in the presence of Elias and Eliza Gaddie, Anna Caroline's siblings.

The 1880 census from Taylor County, Kentucky shows Anna Caroline's mother's name as 'Anna' also (Shofner), and shows that her mother was then 76 years old. 'Anna Osborn' is listed as being 36 years old, and it states that she was a 'seamstress'. This is Anna Caroline (Gaddie), wife of John Brown Osborn (who is not listed in this census excerpt), who was born in 1844. Interestingly, the head of household in this census extract is Anna's mother, wife of Johnson Gaddie.
