Facts and Events
Conflicting information about the place of birth. According to Urban Bowen, Grandson of Elizabeth Osborn (Anna's twin sister), the twins were born in Greensburg, Kentucky. Anna Susan Osborn (Thomas) is buried in Eastlawn Cemetery, 1002 Airport Road, Bloomington, Illinois 61704-2524 (309-662-1222), in the Memorial Lawn section, plot 122. Her 'Certificate of Death' lists her immediate cause of death as "Carcinoma of the rectum", which she apparently battled for 1 1/2 years. Fraternal twin to Elizabeth (Lizzie) Osborn. One of her daughters, Ida (Thomas) Sebring, remarked that even though they were twins, they had very different personalities. Ida also stated that in those days, there was a stigma attached to having twins. She said it was thought of as a sort of "a disgrace to have more than one baby at a time". "They thought it was like having a litter". Anna lived in Easton Illinois in 1951. The Jerry D. Abshier Family Heritage album shows a photo of her sitting on the porch of the Easton house. Ida stated that the Thomas' moved to the Easton house after leaving Bloomington, Illinois. When Anna died, her residence was listed on the Certificate of Death as being at 810 west Locust Street, in Bloomington, Illinois. References
