Carl Stephan Funeral To Be Held Saturday
Carl Stephan died at his home in Long Prairie last evening about 6 o'clock, following a stroke. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Geo. Rausch officiating. Obit. next week.

Rites Held For Carl Stephan

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic church for Carl Stephan, pioneer resident, age 92, who died Wednesday evening, May 21, about six o'clock, following a stroke. He had been ill about three days. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. George Rauch officiated. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery. The pallbearers were J.H. Klemenhagen, Otto Wettstein, Raymond Knapp, Ray Dirschel, August Neumann and Henry Brever. The crossbearer was Ed Brever.
Carl Stephan was born July 28, 1866, in Upper Selesia, Germany, the son of Carl and Rosalia (Schuster) Stephan. He came with his parents to Todd county in 1881, settling in the Long Prairie vicinity. On Nov. 14, 1899, Carl Stephan married Louisa Vollmer. They resided on a farm in Long Prairie township until they retired in 1941 and came to the village of Long Prairie to make their home.
He was preceded in death by his wife July 9, 1948, and sons, Frederick in 1951, Hubert in 1946 and a daughter, Esther, who died in 1922. The following children survive: Arnold, Albert and Rosalia Codner of Long Prairie, Conrad of Champlin and Mrs. Walter (Clara) Cuchna of Browerville. Also 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
