AGED RESIDENT SUMMONED FRIDAY
Mrs. Ben Laumeyer Dies At Home Of Her Son In Reynolds.
Funeral Services Conducted Tuesday at St. Mary's Church.
Mrs. Ben Laumeyer, a resident of this community for more then 60 years, died at the home of her son, George, in Reynolds following a five day illness. Death was due to a heart ailment.
Funeral services were conducted at St. Mary's Catholic church Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock with Rev. Fr. George Rauch officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery with the following grandsons as pallbearers: Ray and Lawrence Huyink, Donald Laumeyer, Carl Muenzhuber, Marcus and George Woell, Mrs. Henry Griep was crossbearer.
Mary Stephan, daughter of Carl and Rosalia Stephan, was born September 17, 1862, in Germany. She came with her parents to this community in 1881 and this continued her residence until her death.
On June 15, 1886, she was here married to Bernard Laumeyer and from 1886 until 1923 they made their home in Reynolds township where they engaged in farming. They re-

tired from farming in 1923 and moved to this village where Mr. Laumeyer passed away on May 27, 1931. Mrs. Laumeyer continued to live here until two years ago when she moved to Reynolds to make her home with her son, George.
Surviving Mrs. Laumeyer's death are the following children: Mrs. Ben Huyink, George Laumeyer and Henry Laumeyer of this community, Mrs. William Woell and Mrs. Edward Hoffarth of Browerville, Mrs. Jos. Donovan of Belle Plaine, Mrs. Henry Strong of Graceville. A daughter Ida, died in infancy and another daughter, Mrs. Edward (Anna) Woell died in 1931. Also surviving are a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Nick Kieffer of Morris and Carl and August Stephan of this community, as well as 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Laumeyer was a member of St. Mary's church and of the Christian Mothers, members of which served as an honorary guard at the last rites.
Numbered among the pioneers of this community, Mrs. Laumeryer was privileged to see this section of the county develop from the days of the wilderness to the modern state of the present. She belonged to that diminishing band who came here in an early day and contributed to the growth and development of the community. In her death the county has lost another pioneer, one who will long be remembered.
