obituary
"Camby A. [Boxie] Stottlemyer, 57-year-old taxi driver, ended his life by blowing his head off with a shotgun about 7:30 o'clock yesterday morning in a garage near his home,452 North Prospect Street. His body was found by his daughter, Ruth, in the rear of his automobile. Acting coroner John H. Bitner made an investigation and gained a verdict of suicide.
Stottlemyer had walked from the home only a few minutes before, telling his wife that he was taking the gun for the purpose of shooting a rabbit. Charles Boward, an employee at Coffman's lumberyard, reported seeing Stottlemyer walk by the place in the direction of his garage. When he failed to return in a reasonable length of time the daughter went in search.
The family could offer no explanation for the suicide other than that Stottlemyer had been drinking and was released only Sunday night from jail on a forfeit to answer charges of fighting. It is thought that he possibly brooded over his arrest to the extent that he was prompted to take his life.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Bessie Stottlemyer, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Icia Anderson, Mrs. Warren Coffman, Mrs. Mary Lahr and Miss Ruth, this city, and sons Chester and Edgar, this city; sisters, Mrs. James Cooper, Frederick; Mrs. Olive Sunday, Lewistown, Maryland; Mrs. Catherine Fisher, Frederick; brothers, Ulysses, this city; John, Frederick; Webster, Boonsboro; Irvine, Funk's town, and Benjamin, Frederick. funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with services at the home by Rev. Dr. W. M. Norment; internment in Fahrney's Cemetery." S4
