Beverly O. "Odell" Cook, 75, of 2219 Brook Ave., died Monday, April 22, 1991. Services will be at 2pm Friday in Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Raines, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Mr. Cook, born in Bells, had lived in Amarillo since 1938. He married Millie Craig in 1940 at Panhandle. She died in 1978. He married Nita Geyer in 1980 at Amarillo. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had been a truck driver for many years. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Velvin Porter and Beverly Buchanan, both of Amarillo; a son, Filbert Cook of Germany; two stepdaughters, Wanda Birmingham of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kathryn Chambless of Perry, Ga.; a stepson, Richard Mitchell of Amarillo; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Cynthia,I have the same last name(Cook) but am of no relation,however my grandfather George Cook was in B company 98th signal and I do know his timelines overseas which most certainly correspond with company C---they are as follows:Aitape New Guinea july to sept 1944--,Moratai (invasion landing)sept 15 -dec.,1944--Leyte(Phillipines) Dec.-Jan.'45--Luzon(Phillipines)invasion and liberation of Bataan peninsula,jan.29 1945--arriving in Manila april'45--arrived in Tokyo Bay sept 3 1945(same day as surrender on board the USS Missouri)-occupied Tokyo sept-oct '45(my grandfather came back after that,whether your uncle stayed longer I don't know)-hope this helps,good luck!-Tim Cook
