    Funeral Services for Bernie Wolfe, 99, of Guthrie Center formerly of Jefferson will be 11:00 Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday at the Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center, Iowa. The family will greet friends at 10:00 am Thursday, 1 hour prior to the service.

    Bernie Dean Wolfe 99 was born October 8, 1914 to Sid and Dora (Sheeder) Wolfe in Bear Grove Township in Guthrie County, Iowa. Bernie passed away on February 10, 2014 at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center, IA.

    Bernie grew up on a farm in rural Guthrie Center and attended the Guthrie Center Schools. After high school, Bernie attended Iowa State University and Drake University and graduated with her teaching degree. Bernie taught 43 years before retiring in 1978. She taught in rural schools in Guthrie County for 13 years, at Yale Independent for 6 years, and Jefferson Schools for 24 years. After retirement Bernie was involved with the Methodist Church and Circle in Jefferson, Genealogy Societies in Guthrie and Greene County, and was a member of the ISEA. Bernie also loved playing cards with friends.

    Bernie is survived by her sister-in-law: Mary Wolfe of Guthrie Center, IA; Nephews: Jack Wolfe of Guthrie Center, IA, Ed (Sandi) Wolfe of Exira, IA, Elden (Cheryl) Wolfe of Guthrie Center, IA, Junior (Candy) Wolfe of Guthrie Center, IA, Dave (Claudia) Wolfe of Bayard, IA, Jim (Claire) Brittian of Guthrie Center, IA, Gary (Yolanda) Brittian of Ankeny, IA, Chuck Brittian of Audubon, IA; many great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers John, Bill, and Clarence; and sisters Bessie, Bernice Wolfe and Bonnie Olson; Nephew Jerry Wolfe; and nieces Marilyn Wolfe, Kathleen Schwaderer, and Jean Ann Schwaderer.
