Ralph Braught recalled (1983 conversation) that "Aunt Bernie" lived in Bondurant, IA and had a son about the same age as his (Ralph's) brother Herschel, plus another son. He thought she may have later moved to West Des Moines, IA.

Mrs. Thomas died at home of heart ailment following 6 week illness. Born in Indianola, she lived in Des Moines nearly 60 years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors. Surviving are two sons; Russel E. and Dale F. Thomas, both of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Wellisch, Rio de Janerir, Brazil; five grand chidren and three great grand-children.

Ralph Braught thought that someone in her family had a Braught family Bible. Iowa Death certificat 53-01713 pg. 89 Polk Co. for Bernice Barbara Thomas, 412 E. 30th St. Des Moines died at her home January 9, 1953. she was born Feb. 9, 1877 at Indianola, Iowa to Franklin Braught and Mary E (unknown maiden name), died age 75 and a resident of Des Moines 60 yrs. Informant was R.E. Thomas (son). She ided of cerbral vascular accident (brain hem.) and arteriosclorosis. Buried Jan 13, 1953 at Woodland Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
