(From The Advocate of Newark, Ohio, April 9, 1949) Miss Barbara Simpson, student at Traphagen School of Design in New York City, returned to Newark Saturday to spend a week's vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Simpson, 212 Cambria Street. Miss Simpson entered the school early in February.

(From The Newark Advocate, February 13, 1952) Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Simpson, 350 Union Street, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Barbara to Louis C. Beale Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Beale of Columbus. Miss Simpson studied at Traphagen School of Fashion and Design in New York and is attending Ohio State University. Mr. Beale is a graduate of Ohio State University and Franklin University. During World War II he served with the United States Navy and now associated with Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus. The wedding will be an even of March 15.

(From The Newark Advocate, November 27, 1957) Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Beale Jr. and daughters, Lisa, 4 and Lauren, 1, of Columbus will leave Sunday, Dec. 1 for Beirut, Lebanon, where Mr. Beale will join a team of engineers from Battelle Memorial Institue in Columbus. Mrs. Beale, was formerly Miss Barbara Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Simpson, 350 Union St. Her parents will observe the custom of open house, Saturday night from 7 to 10 p. m., for the relatives and friends of the Beale family. Mrs. Beale studied for a year at the Traphagen School of Fashion and Illustration and was graduated from Ohio State University with a BS degree. (From The Newark Advocate, March 17, 1952) Saturday afternoon in the Second Presbyterian Church, Miss Barbara Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Simpson, 350 Union Street, exchanged marriage vows with Louis C. Beale Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Beale, 134 West 8th Avenue, Columbus.

 The Rev. James Bolen officiated at the double ring ceremony at 1:30 p.m. before the altar arranged with white carnations, and snapdragons used before a screen of palms.
 As the guests assembled, Gordon Kingery, organist, played a program of bridal music and Russell Harter was the soloist.
 Attending the bride as matron of honor was Mrs. Russell Harter, sister of the bride and the bridesmaids were Miss Betty Cartnal of Hanover and Mrs. Jack Harrison of Newark.  In the bridal procession was the little flower girl, Carolyn Sue Harter, niece of the bride.
 Richard L. Myers, Columbus, attended the bridegroom as best man and the ushers were James Beale, Columbus, brother of the bridegroom; Paul Plants, Newark, uncle of the bride, who replaced Julian W. Nash of Columbus, who was ill.
 The bride was given in marriage by her father, Gaylord Simpson and she wore a bridal gown of white slipper satin and nylon chiffon.
 It was fashioned with a fitted bodice, having long sleeves ending in points over the hands.  The bridal veil of Brussels lace fell over the train of the gown.  It was an heirloom in the family of the bridegroom.
 She carried a bouquet of white roses and carnations and the bridal veil was caught with a tiara of orange blossoms and lace.
 The matron of honor wore a cherry red strapless, floor length gown having a lighter shade net overskirt and matching scalloped cape.  The bridesmaids' frocks were in the same design in sea green.  The flower girl wore a white nylon chiffon lace dress over white taffeta.  All carried round bouquets of carnations and roses.
 Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the home of the bride's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wilson in 285 North Buena Vista Street.  Huckleberry leaves and ivy were used on the bride's table which was centered with the wedding cake and the rooms were decorated with white carnations, yellow roses, and greenery.
 Receiving the guests the bride's mother wore a rose frock with navy accessories and the bridegroom's mother had chosen a navy suit.  Both had shoulder bouquets of an orchid.
 Assisting hostesses were Mrs. David Miller, Mrs. William Coban, Mrs. Russell E. Oliver all of Newark.
 Out of town guests were present from Columbus, Gallipolis, Cleveland, Lancaster, Coshocton, Warshaw and Point Pleasant, W. Va.
 When the couple left on a wedding trip south the bride was wearing a navy blue broadcloth suit with navy and benedictine accessories and her flowers were roses and carnations.
 On their return they will live in 352 West Lane Avenue, Columbus.  The bride was graduated from Newark High School in 1946 and is attending Ohio State University.  She formerly attended the Traphagen School of Fashion and Design.
 Mr. Beale is a graduate of North High School, Columbus.  He was graduated from Ohio State University and Franklin University.
