(From The Advocate of Newark, Ohio: May 31, 1968) Private funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ross Henderson Funeral Home for Gaylord Simpson, 75, of 89 Hancock St. The Rev. Franklin Riffel will officiate, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Simpson died Thursday morning in his home. He was born May 8, 1893 in Ashland, Kentucky to Charles A. and Sidney Hallam Simpson. A resident of Newark for the past 40 years, he retired in 1958 from the E. T. Rugg Co. He was a veteran of World War I, serving as a corporal in the Company L of the 333rd Infantry Division in France and Belgium. He was a member of the United Missionay Church, Heath. Surviving are his wife, Della M. Simpson of the home; three daughters: Mrs. Harold Wilson of Newark, Mrs. Russell F. Harter of Willard and Mrs. Louis C. Beal of Coriopolis, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. James Bullock of Fairborn; four brothers: Millard of Ft. Collins, Colo., Leonard of De Plaines, Ohio, and Howard and Oscar of Millfield, Ohio, and seven grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
