Arthur was a veteran of the Spanish American War. He was a Sargeant in the 20th U.S. Infantry of Illinois, Company "D". His war records show his birth as 1880, but he gave false information in order to join the war. In later years he was a farmer, Santa Fe Railroad employee, under sheriff of Logan County, Oklahoma and a member of the Guthrie Police Force. He belonged to Masonic Lodge #35 & was a past master.
