Cecil was born premature & the doctor did not expect him to survive. His mother was determined to do what she could & he was cared for in a homemade incubator--a shoe box lined with hot water bottles. A friend's wedding ring would fit around his wrist & he could be placed in a coffee mug at two months. Cecil was drafted into the Navy during WWII. source: family notes
