James D. Platt came to America sometime between 1857-1865 with Mary & their living children. Mary Davenport, by whom he had 6 children, died 25 October 1872 in Rockwell, Iowa. He met & married Louisa E. Webb (Craine) 15 June 1873 and they had 3 children. He was a frontier blacksmith & horse doctor. He went back to Winsford, England to check on some property he had inherited & was thought to have become ill and died there.
