HINXWORTH... The Late Mr. Arthur Bryant. The funeral took place on November 7th of Mr. Arthur Bryant, the aged parishioner of Hinxworth, whose death was briefly recorded in our last issue. During the latter part of his life Mr. Bryant was employed by Mrs. Kendall, of Millow Hall, Dunton, for about twenty years, but then finding the strain of the journey to and fro too much for him, owing to his advancing years, he left and was employed for about twelve years by Mr. W.E. Sale, of Glebe Farm, Hinxworth until he ceased regular work. Mr. Bryant was a regular worshipper at the Parish Church where the funeral was conducted by the Rector (Rev. W. Atkins). During the service the hymn "For ever with the Lord" was sung, and as the cortege entered the Church, the organist (Miss M. Sale) played "But the Lord is mindful of His own," and on its departure, "O rest in the Lord." The immediate mourners included Mrs. Skerman, of Bedford, Mrs. J. Street and Miss Bryant (daughters), Mr. Albert Bryant, of Finsbury Park, Mr. George Bryant and Mr. Fred Bryant (sons), Mrs. Alfred Bryant, of Dunton, Mrs. Albert Bryant (daughters-in-law), Mr. J. Street and Mr. Skerman (sons-in-law), Mr. J. Morgan (brother-in-law), Mrs. Moss and Mrs. Brooks (sisters-in-law), Mrs. Gill of Bedford, Mrs. George Law and Miss Bertha Bryant (nieces), Mr. George Kitchiner, of Biggleswade, Mr. Arthur Stanton, of Dunton (nephews), Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Sale, Miss M. Sale, Mrs. Miller and Miss Burr. Other friends and sympathisers were present in the Church and at the graveside. The coffin was of polished elm with heavy brass furniture, the breastplate being inscribed: "Arthur Bryant, died November 3rd, 1928: aged 82 years. Peace, Perfect Peace." Messrs. Baxter and Worboys, of Stotfold, were the undertakers.
