 In the 1880 census in Liberty, Coffey Co., Kansas, W. P. Gillet is 30, a farmer from Ohio, Arletta 25 Ohio, and son A. R. 1 Kansas. {p. 389c} Her father A. P. Rockhill 53 is also in Liberty with wife Anna 52 and son S. W. 13.
In the 1900 census for Liberty, Coffey Co., Kansas, there are listings for a Shankland family [cannot read on HeritageQuest and not indexed on Ancestry.com] with 5 members, head is listed with mother born Pennsylvania, next four with mother born Ohio [Arletta, Ella, Claude, Phillip?], and [on next page] daughter Alta is 5 born July 1894; and son Leon is 2 born Mar 1898 -- both born Kansas, father Kentucky, mother Ohio. {ed 39, sh 18a, p. 97} His son Claud is living with his brother Sylvester in Missouri.
 She is shown in the 1910 census both with husband James Shankland and in Kansas. In Coffey Co. Kansas, George W. (Crotty?) is 34 born Kansas (father Maryland, mother Illinois), 'farmer - ranch', married 4 years; with wife Alice N. 25 born Kansas (parents Ohio), with 2 of 2 children living; children are William L. 3 and Millie A. 1 and 6 mos -- both born Kansas.  Mother-in-law Arletta C.
