Argus was a large man, usually loud, often drinking but rarely drunk, and generally cheerful. SS data states death in St. Paul, (Ramsey?), MN 55105. SS# 478-01-2450. He may have had a second marriage. My mother's notes listed his birth as Sept. 19 (no year given). pg 194 of Birth Records of Warren County, Iowa Through 1920 list his name as Charles A. Riley born 20 Sept 1909 in Carlisle to Lew Riley (OH) and Rosa Ruggles (IA) 1941 Des Moines City Directory shows Riley's "66" Service (Argus C. Riley)...washing, greasing, tire repairing, 2600 Forest Av. It also shows Argus C Riley (Margaret) Riley's "66" service, living at 2314 - 45th. I found a note with Mary Riley (Argus) at Star Rt. Box 429, Mayrifield, MN 56465.

Argus was married to Margaret Hatch. In 1936, they had a son named Ronald Argus Riley who grew up to be a well-respected attorney in Des Moines, Iowa. Margaret Hatch and Argus Riley divorced. Argus moved to Minnesota, remarried, and had another family. Ronald Argus Riley was raised by Margaret Hatch's second husband, King Auestad.
