A sweet person. Small, dark hair, thin, very pretty. She loved calling her nieces and nephews to visit over the phone. She kept in touch with her family, especially in her later years. Ardith A. CArter July 16, 1923-Dec. 27, 2001 Elkhart Truth EDWARDSBURG---Ardith A. Carter, 78, of 21660 Mason St., died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 27, 2001) at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Elkhart on July 26, 1923, to Russel L. and Orpha M. (Tyler) Hertsel and married Charles G. Carter in Cassopolis on Aug. 29, 1942. he died June 29, 1983. Mrs. Carter is survived by one daughter, Peggy A. Eary of Edwardsburg; a son, Michael J. of Valrico, Fla.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Murlin Hertsel of Elkhart. Two brothers, Donald Sr. and Otis Hertsel; and two sisters, Cleo L. Bonine and Callie Smith, are deceased. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Connelly Funeral Home in Cassopolis, where the service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Larry Settle will officiate and burial will be at Birch Lake Cemetery. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ. Memorials may be given to the Birch Lake Cemetery Association or the church. |
