Ann Elizabeth Whipple daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Conklin) Whipple was born in 1837 in Clermont County, Ohio. She is named in her aunt’s will as Lizzie A. Blair. She married a Clermont County neighbor, Thomas Hamar Blair, son of John H. and Cynthia Blair. They were married on 2 April 1863 in Clermont County. Thomas died at age 30 on 17 August 1867 in Clermont County. By 1870 Lizzie and her daughter, Jessie had moved to Burlington, Iowa where they lived with the family of Lizzie’s brother, George. Lizzie is named in the 1879 will of her aunt, Ann Ross as niece, Lizzie A. Blair, widow of Thomas A. Blair, residing in Burlington, Iowa.
