Charles Wilsone Brown, of Wemyss Castle and later Swinfen Hall, Staffs, married Annie, daughter of Michael Rowand of Linthouse, Charles was grandson of Charles Wilsone, surgeon (Memoirs and portraits of 100 Glasgow men). They married 31mar1849 at Govan (IGI). Charles, a property developer, had Wemyss Castle, Renfrewshire, built in 1850 (wikipedia). Ann died before 1881 as Charles W. S. Brown (b. 1821 Glasgow, head, widowed, magistrate) and 3 children, born at Wemyss Bay, lived at Swinfen Hall, Staffs (census). In 1841 the following families, all born in Lanarkshire, lived (with servants) at Linthouse, Govan; Rowands: Catherine (1811), Andrew (1812, merchant), Alexander (1815, merchant), Michael (1818, merchant), Ann (1821); Buchanans: Thomas (1805 merchant), Mary (1814), Ann (1838), James (1840) (census).
