The PO Directory Glasgow lists Michael Rowand as cashier, Ship Bank, in 1820 at house 69 Jamaica St. and in 1831 at 9 Glassford St.; in 1841 Michael Rowand, Linthouse, Glasgow and Ship Bank and son Michael of Buchanan, Rowand and Co., house linthouse, and Buchanan, Rowand and Co., grain and commission merchants, 33 Virginia St.
Mr. Rowan of Linthouse bought Woodside (which had been owned by Benjamin Barton, commissary clerk, and Archibald Hamilton (b. 1784)) in 1839. Michael Rowand, cashier Ship Bank, died 17jan1858 at Linthouse, aged 86 (Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry). The will of Michael Rowand, residing at Linthouse, Govan, banker in Glasgow, spouse of Margaret Wilson was reg. 12jan1859 at Glasgow (scotlandspeople).
