This Indenture this first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five Between Andrew E. Kelly and Joannah his wife and Andrew Edmondson junr. and Martha his wife of the one part and Andrew Edmondson son of Major John Edmondson of the other part all of the County of Washington and State of Virginia.
Witnesseth that the said Andrew E. Kelly and Joannah his wife and Andrew Edmondson junr. & Patsey his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and thirty dollars to each of them in hand paid. Do grant bargain and sell unto the said Andrew Edmondson of the second part and his heirs two undivided eleventh part, of a certain tract or parcel on the north side of the south fork of Holstein River containing, two hundred and four acres be the same more or less and being the same tract of land whereon Major John Edmondson deceased lived and died and which descended to the heirs of the said Major John Edmondson dec'd of whom the said Joannah and Martha are daughters & two of his heirs. The said tract of land lies adjoining the lands of Samuel Hathorn, William More, Samuel Fulton, now Francis Prestons, James Hand and a tract of land this day conveyed by John Edmondson to Andrew Edmondson junr. and was purchased by the said Major John Edmondson deceased of Robert Edmondson now deceased, with all its appurtenances unto the said Andrew Edmondson of the second part to the sole use and behoof of him the said Andrew Edmondson and his heirs forever...[some omitted]
But it is expressly covenanted and agreed between the parties that the said Andrew Edmondson of the second part shall pay to the creditors of the said Major John Edmondson deceased the sum of two hundred and sixty dollars if there should remain so much of the debts of the said Major John Edmondson deceased unpaid after the personal estate of the said Major John Edmondson deceased is exhausted as would make the said parties of the first part liable for that amount or surrender the said land to the creditors of said estate to be sold according, to law for the payment of the debts of said Estate.

Washington County to wit
We Samuel Moore and William Buchanan justices of the peace in the County aforesaid and State of Virginia do hereby certify that Andrew E. Kelly and Andrew Edmondson jr. parties to a certain deed for the conveyance of the real estate to Andrew Edmondson son of Major John' bearing date on the first day of March 1825 and hereunto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged to the same to be their act and deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court of Washington in order that the said Deed may be recorded. And we do further certify that Joannah Kelly wife of the said Andrew E. Kelly and Martha Edmondson the wife of said Andw. Edmondson junr. parties to the said Deed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from their husbands and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to them they the said Joannah Kelly and Martha Edmondson acknowledged the same to be their act and deed and declared that they had willingly signed, sealed and delivered the same and that they wished & not to retract it.

    "High On A Windy Hill", p. 206 reported that Andrew's stone read: Andrew Edmondson, d. 18 Jul 1852, age 58y 5m 24d. Calculating Andrew's date of birth based on the above data yields 24 Jan 1794. However a 2011 reading of the stone reveals that the inscription included the actual date of birth: Dec. 25, 1794.
