Facts and Events
Name Amelia Davies
Gender Female
Birth? 20 Dec 1827 Gorseinon, Glamorgan, S-Wales
Death? Y

BIRTH: One record lists Amelia's birth year as 1827, another lists it as 1832.

1827 seems to be the most correct since on the 1851 census for that area Amelia's age was given as 23 (the difference would be due to the census being taken before her birth month).

Amelia was present at the death of her sister Margaret. On Margaret's death certificate Amelia's home address is listed as Duke Street, Morriston.

A letter (dated 19 October 1874) from John and Amelia (Davies) Walters was written to her sister (Ann). It records that both their parents have died (the mother Sarah on 2 October 1874). It also mentions their sisters Ruth, Margaret and Charlotte. And mentions David and Sarah Biddow or Biddone. The original letter is now in the Pioneer Memorial Library at Brigham Young Univeristy in Provo, Utah. A xerox copy is in my possession (in my Book of Remembrance)

A second letter (dated (16 Feb 1880) written from Amelia to Ann (Davies) Jenkins reports that their aunt Mary Hopkin died at age 87 years, and mentions a cousin William Hopkin. It also mentions sisters Charlotte, Margaret, and Ruth, and an uncle Daniel who was brother to their father. Comment is made about Margaret's two marriages. The original letter is now in the Pioneer Memorial Library at Brigham Young Univeristy in Provo, Utah. A xerox copy is in my possession (in my Book of Remembrance)

A third letter (dated 22 March 1881) written to Ann Davies Jenkins from her sister Amelia Davies Walters mentions the sisters: Anne, Margaret, Ruth, Charlotte and Amelia. It records Margaret's death as 26 January 1881. It also says "all the old people at Gorseinon have died" and mentions Bill Lewis and Rachel and Mary their sisters. The two William Hopkins are living but none of the sisters. The original letter is in the Pioneer Memorial Library at B.Y.U. A xerox copy is in my possession (in my Book of Remembrance).
