Facts and Events
Alice Mayo was born in 1863 in Hitchin, daughter of a brickmaker named William Mayo and his wife Sarah Smith. Alice grew up in Hitchin, before going into domestic service, working as a cook.
Alice appears never to have married, and died aged 84 in 1948.
