There are two baptisms of Sarah Smiths daughters of William in Luton at about the right time to be the Sarah getting married here. However, the Sarah daughter of William and Ann baptised on 8 Mar 1829 has been ruled out on the basis that there was a Sarah Smith who died aged 3 in 1832 and was described as of Leagrave Marsh - in the censuses that William and Ann can be found living in Leagrave (a hamlet in Luton parish but quite distinct and removed from the town). This strongly suggests that it was their Sarah who died aged 3, making the Sarah who married William Mayo the one who was the daughter of William and Esther Smith.
